Battle of BOP 638 at Laungewala Post

Posted on March 22, 2020 by Abhishek Prahladka

This battle was Battle of BOP 638, which I came to know after reading below story:

Truly, there are many such battles which we are unaware of where soldiers of our country has shown a distinguished courage. It should have been included in the curriculum of our school studies.

Nevertheless, the best part of this museum was that, it was not only restricted to the display of arms and ammunition but it displays complete story of battle along with various phases of battle faced by our army.

The second room was dedicated to arms and ammunition but the third room was again interesting as it was having a miniature display of the battlefield, which included the position of our army, position of enemy and even the post position of Brigadier Kuldip Singh Chandpuri and his team comprising of Lieutenant Dharam Vir, Inspector Bhairo Singh, Sepoy Mathura Das, Subedar Rattan Singh, Major Atma Ram and others.

The experience of the museum was extraordinary as one can have a real feel of the battle field and can visualize the events shown in Border movie was actually close to reality.

After finishing the museum, next was another surprise…
