“Every cloud has a silver lining”….an experience to share

Posted on May 13, 2020 by Abhishek Prahladka

He came towards us and asked, “What happened??”

“I think Tyre is puncture, is there any shop around…!!!” I responded with a worried face.

Guard replied, “No, there is no repair shop nearby, from where did you get the bicycle??”

I responded, ” We got it from the tour operator at Jetty.”

Guard responded, “Jetty is far from here, do you have phone number of the agent??”

Negative was my response, “No, but I remember his face.”

After hearing my above response, the guard smiled and replied, “There is no other way but to take the bicycle to Jetty and there you will get replacement of the bicycle without any cost.”

I asked,  “How to take bicycle to the Jetty , it is far from here, can i get any vehicle so that I can go to Jetty and get it replaced.”

Guard replied, “Getting vehicle here is difficult and it will be costly, as they will charge you more.”

But his addition of another sentence actually worked out to be a “solution” to our problem and he actually tried to resolve our problem.

He further added, “You can do one thing, you have two bicycles, leave this bicycle (punctured one) and you both go to Jetty on one bicycle, tell the agent that you have left the bicycle here and ask him to give replacement.”

The above response sounded feasible and best under the current situation, but I was still worried about the security of the bicycle, since I was handing over the borrowed asset to an unknown person, so for my satisfaction, I just questioned the guard, “ Is it safe to leave bicycle here??”

He answered,” Yes, you can leave your bicycle here, its safe, just tell the agent about this place, he must be knowing me.”

I was partially convinced, but I had to take this risk also, because of limited availability of options.

So, I parked the puncture bicycle, near the entrance gate, took the driver seat of my wife’s bicycle and asked her to sit on the top tube and headed towards the jetty.

This small incident proved to be a blessing in disguise.

Riding on a single bicycle was never thought of but the destiny had different plans for us.

Now it was more fun while riding on a single bicycle.

The street was empty, scenery around was breathtaking and thus the ride on a single bicycle was like “icing on the cake”. All our worries were gone now and we were enjoying the ride in a zig-zag manner, singing song….

We reached the destination within few minutes and we couldn’t believe that we had covered distance of approx. 3 kms, the time passed in a flash.

The distance which was looking heavy once, now passed smoothly, all this was possible because of a lovely companion…!!

    “यूंही कट जाएगा सफर साथ चलने से, के मंज़िल आएगी नजर साथ चलने से………….” last few lines reminds me of this song.
