Gateway to Lakshadweep

Posted on March 19, 2018 by Abhishek Prahladka

Lakshadweep has only one airport located at Agatti island, the airstrip at Agatti is amongst the dangerous and beautiful airstrips in the world since surrounded by water from three sides. While landing at the runway one can see sea water all three sides and the sight of runway is breath-taking. However, photography is strictly prohibited at the airport runway since it is a military airport base.

The best part of travelling to Agatti Island is that there is only Air India which carries passengers to and fro from Agatti to Indian mainland and no other private carriers are allowed to carry passengers and above all only ATR of 21 seats can take-off or land at Agatti runway. So it is always better to book flight tickets in advance since availability is limited to travel to Lakshadweep.

The ATR flies from Bengaluru airport early morning, hops at Kochi Airport and finally reaches destination. So, I booked my flight from Bengaluru to Agatti Islands for 10th November 2016 and return on 14th November 2016 well in advance so as to confirm first part of my travel. Booking flight ticket in advance is a regular habit of mine which provides me enough time to plan for travel and manage my work.

Next planning was to book for stay at Agatti…..
