The Trouble at Airport-3

Posted on October 23, 2018 by Abhishek Prahladka

He then threw another bouncer at me saying that my passport is invalid, since it has been issued by Lucknow office. This question really took my heart out of my body as it was a shocking question for me.

I tried to explain him that it is an Indian passport issued by one of the offices located in Lucknow. But he was stuck on a point, that it is invalid passport issued by Lucknow office and is a fake, as many people come from this place with fake passports.

I again explained him that this is Indian passport and not a local passport, even I showed him the stamps on passport which was put during earlier visits.

Then he said that this passport is not valid to visit Thailand, and at that moment I just sat with blank face having no answer. I again insisted that my passport is original and if possible please get it verified.

He agreed that he will allow me to enter only after verification.

Then he asked me about the money/currency that I was carrying with me and also asked me to show them in original. I showed him 10,000.00 Thai Baht (THB) which I was carrying as per minimum requirement for obtaining visa, along with two credit cards to be used in case of need.

He also checked my currency exchange documents and told me that the cash is not enough for stay at Thailand.  I countered that argument by saying that I am carrying cash as per norms given at the website of Government of Thailand.

But all my arguments were unheard by the cop. He then asked me about the credit limit of credit card and liquidity in case I am out of currency. I showed him two credit cards which were HDFC Master Card and American Express card. He asked me about the credit limit available in both the cards, this question was very difficult for me to answer as one can’t show or demonstrate credit limit available unless statement of transaction is available or can be shown through web portal.
