Trouble for Backpacker – The Story Continues…

Posted on April 10, 2020April 10, 2020 by Abhishek Prahladka

After his search was over, I was convinced that the investigation was over but I was incorrect….

When I collected all my personal belongings and kept it inside my bag, the investigating officer asked me to accompany him.

He took me to a room nearby which was “Investigation Room”.

I was unaware, clueless of the situation and could not understand the reason, for events taking place with me.

There were many such rooms and I could notice that some more people were sitting inside the other rooms. Since, the name of the room was “investigation room”, I could sense that, the cop was taking me for investigation, but for what?

What is the matter of investigation?

Have I committed any crime?

What is he trying to search?

And many such questions started running inside my brain swiftly.

As instructed, I stepped inside the room, kept my bag on the floor and sat on the chair placed in front of investigation table.

The officer, took out one form from his drawer and started filling it with my passport details and other details like, visa number, date of return, purpose of travel, etc. Than after filling all my details, he asked me to sign on the consent form.

The form was a bilingual form and details asked were printed in local language and English. So, I was able to understand questions printed in english and answers written by him in english, but other details written by him in local language were difficult for me to understand.

There was a space in the form for signature, which was towards consent for investigation. He asked me to sign towards consent for investigation.

After what I had suffered at Bali airport, I still think as of today, that whether I had choice to say “No” at that point of time.

What would have happened to me, if I had refused for investigation at that point of time??

I was not prepared for any such situation till that day and no one had ever shared any experience to deal with such situation, so I signed on that consent form, which was my official consent for investigation.

At the time of signing, I was not aware of his methods of investigation.

I was expecting that there would be Q&A session only and I had to answer long list of questions.

I had faced similar situation at Thailand, so I had experience of handling such situation and I was keeping myself calm.

As soon as he got my consent, he asked me to stand up and come near to him.

He than took out the drugs detection equipment and started frisking me.

First, he rolled that equipment on my upper part of body and moved from stomach to my head. Having found nothing on the sensors, he kept that equipment on the table and started search with his hands.

His frisking went upto my hairs, he was pressing and rolling sleeves of my T-shirt, than searched the collar from every angle. After searching my cloths, he started searching my hair, having found nothing, he moved back and asked me to take-off my T-shirt.

For a fraction of second, I was stunned on his order and I could not understand his behavior…
