Exploring The Sun Island Resort

Posted on April 21, 2020 by Abhishek Prahladka

The Sun Island Resort is an island resort, which is surrounded by water and thus sufficient activities, full of entertainment are available for visitors, along with other facilities.

One such facility is Bicycle rental, which was available for USD 4.00 per day. Renting bicycle is a must activity at Resort and it has two primary benefits.

Firstly, the area of resort is large and exploring resort on foot consumes lot of time, also the main dining area is common and at a distance of 1-2 kms from the rooms, so every morning, afternoon and evening, there is a long walk before and after food. Yes, I know it sounds good for a healthy life but it is not good for a lazy person like me, who after having dinner, wishes to be carried to the room without wasting any energy and effort.

Secondly, the ambiance of resort is very romantic and exploring resort on Bicycle is altogether a different experience. Riding on the wooden ramp of Water villas or wooden bridge is a unique experience.

Bicycle tour of Resort

Riding Bicycle on Wooden ramp, which is standing above water is not to be missed. The path takes to the last point of resort, which is a Thai Restaurant, you can park and enjoy meal there.

Riding Bicycle during sunset, on the wooden bridge, is an unforgettable experience.

Evening time, Sea Shore, Wooden bridge, Riding bicycle, humming song…life can not be better than this.

And finally, it gives freedom of mobility and chance for exploring more and more. Proving a best companion for a backpacker.

Restaurants at the Resort

Multiple options are also available to dine at resort and at different locations. There is a Main Restaurant, Pool Bar, Coffee shop, Thai Restaurant, Southern Star Restaurant, Maaniya Restaurant, Alpontile-Italian Restaurant. Each restaurant has its own specialty, but for vegetarians, the option is still very limited. The location of all the restaurants were exotic except Main restaurant which was biggest in size.

My personal favorite restaurant was Alpontile-Italian Restaurant, which became favorite not because of food but because of its location. During, evening time, this restaurant looks extremely beautiful and it adds extra flavor to the food taste.

From the restaurant balcony, it is easy to spot Sting Ray in clear water and crabs on nearby rocks.

My second favorite eat/drink spot was Pool Bar, the place where I had spent some of my leisure time, while swimming in fresh water body.

Being hot and bit humid climate, the fruit juice offered by bar was very refreshing, which was like “cherry on the cake” , while standing in the cold water of the swimming pool.

Location of Sun Star Thai Restaurant was also good but it serves most important aspect which is “convenience”, since it is located at the tip of Water Villa Area and hence it is the most convenient place for the residents of water Villa, in case “hunger strikes”.

Entertainment at Resort

For my short stay, I could not use many facilities available at the resort like spa, sauna bath, squash, tennis, etc but I used the treadmill in gymnasium, as usual, running never stops.

At night, arrangements have been done for live band performance after dinner and it is organized in the hall adjacent to main dining area. The dance floor was open to sing and dance for everyone and band was also playing song on requests of guests.

Some were celebrating birthday, some celebrating anniversary, some were on honeymoon and the I was unique – a backpacker.

And now,the final Chapter of this tour, which will now become part of my all story…A Cup of Coffee…stay connected.
