Trip to Rasdhoo was second lap of my Maldives trip and was last lap too. Much information was not available on internet regarding time and ways to visit Rasdhoo and whatever available was old and incomplete. So, I decided to visit Rasdhoo based on information available with me and also after inquiring the local tour operators.
Meanwhile I before leaving Sun Island Resort, I dropped message to hotel at Rasdhoo which was Holiday Garden and was expecting early reply from them. However till the time I left my resort, I could not view response in my mailbox, so now I was left with an option to contact directly at Jetty for boat to Rasdhoo. Before leaving Sun Island I made final attempt at the travel help desk of the resort but they also failed to respond my query and responded that they only have details of ferries and air route for their resort to Male.
Nevertheless, I reached Male airport at around 9.30 a.m and immediately I rushed towards the jetty to know the ferry schedule. There was no help desk as such on the jetty so I inquired local people and the captains of ferries standing nearby. Some refused to provide any information and some guided me to the tourist help desk inside airport for some assistance.
With some hope of getting correct information I headed towards the help desk and there I found a person sitting with phone numbers. On inquiry, he asked the name of resort where I am willing to visit. I showed him the booking voucher of the hotel. Phone number of the hotel was printed on the voucher so the person asked me to dial the same from the telephone installed outside the help desk. I tried to contact on the number but that number was wrong, I again approached help desk for some assistance.
This time person at the help desk took out number from the directory and handed it to me on piece of paper. I tried to contact on that number too but still there was no response. Hope, that number was also old and the help desk was not updated.
Just besides me a man probably from any resort was standing and he saw me trying numbers multiple time, so he approached me and asked for help. I showed him my booking voucher and narrated my requirement. He tried to contact my hotel from the same number and to my luck the number was connected. So, he told the hotel guy about my location and asked him whether he had done any arrangement for me to visit Rasdhoo from Male.
After getting all details, he disconnected call and told me that i need to catch ferry from Male city to Rasdhoo and it departs at 10.30 A.M. It was 10.00 A.M in our watch so he asked me to rush to Male city Jetty from where ship would be available. He also guided me towards ticket window from where ticket to board ferry for Male city can be bought.
Since Male airport is located on a isolated island from Male city so one has to take ferry from Airport Jetty to Male city Jetty and it costs USD 1.00 or 10.00 Maldivian Rufiyaa. Using USD in Maldives is easy but it is expensive as compared to use of local currency, so better to use Maldivian Rufiyaa for all types of payments.
